Biosafety Cabinets

Biosafety cabinets are commonly used in laboratories where samples infected with pathogens or other potentially dangerous microorganisms. The biological safety cabinets are designed to prevent the escape of microorganisms from the infected sample into the external environment. All the air leaving the cabinet is passed through high efficiency particulate air filters, which remove the pathogens like bacteria and virus from the air before it leaves the cabinet. It is also ensured that the air does not blow towards the user.Class II cabinet provides protection even for the sample and is used while handling samples contaminated with pathogens posing a slightly higher risk. The Class III Biosafety Cabinet is used while handling high risk pathogen, generally those of unknown origin
